As followers of Jesus, we celebrate Jesus’ victory over death and the new life He gives to everyone! We invite you to worship with us on Easter weekend!

Maundy Thursday

April 6, 7 PM

On Maundy Thursday, we remember Jesus’ new command: “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) Jesus showed that sacrificial love by washing His disciples’ feet and by sharing a meal – The Lord’s Supper. We gather in worship around this meal and remember God’s love for us.

Good Friday

April 7, 7 PM

We gather on Good Friday to reflect on Jesus’ death on the cross for the whole world. We will sing and hear the account of Jesus’ death, and have an opportunity to place a nail in the cross. The solemn nature of Good Friday helps make the celebration on Easter Sunday so much more powerful!

Celebrate with us!

Jesus is alive and the grave is defeated! If ever there was something worth celebrating, this is it! Our celebration on Easter, April 9th, includes:

A Sunrise Service at 7:00 AM. Simple communion service will be held in the Sanctuary as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection as the day begins.

Easter Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 AM. The youth are hosting the Easter Breakfast as a fundraiser for their trip to the National Youth Gathering this summer.

Traditional Worship at 8:30 AM. This service incorporates organ and brass playing classic hymns of Easter.

Contemporary Worship at 10:45 AM. This service includes modern songs expressing the joy we have in Jesus’ resurrection.

Easter Celebration for families

Kiddos and families, join us Easter Sunday morning at 10 am in the Sanctuary as we celebrate Jesus’ victory over death and the empty tomb. Bring a bag or basket as there will be an “eggs”plosion of eggs outside and a special message for you about Christ’s triumph over death that you won’t want to miss. We will also have Easter activity bags for all children during each service. He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!!

Invite Your Friends

We would love for your friends and neighbors to join us! Here are some simple ways to invite your friends, family, or neighbors to worship with us.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media is a great place to share about Easter services. Here are a few graphics for you to use!

SEND A TEXT

As we’re reaching out to others, a text is a simple way to share about what you’re doing for Easter. Send something like, “Hi! What are you doing for Easter? We’ll be joining our church’s service. Would you like to join us? You can find all the service info at stmatthewgr.com/easter.”

PRAYER

As we prepare for Easter weekend, would you join us in prayer for the following things?

Pray that:

The good news of Jesus would touch hearts in Grand Rapids and around the world.

Our friends, family, and neighbors would join us and be changed by the gospel.

We would continue to live out the hope and the joy that we have because of Jesus’ resurrection and that followers of Jesus everywhere would be a joy-filled light to the world.
