For months, we’ve been preparing for a special all-church service project to coincide with the Red Letter Challenge. The steering committee for the Red Letter Challenge brought the idea of partnering with a local organization – the Grand Rapids Dream Center – to impact the community in a BIG way!

The Dream Center is a ministry to those in need in Grand Rapids and their ministry is different than many of the other great organizations serving the needy. While others provide a location for meals and a place to sleep for the homeless, the Dream Center goes to the people. They “adopt” a neighborhood and build relationships with the families there, coming alongside of them and learning their needs and how best to meet them. They provide meal deliveries to families, beds for those without, and other needs – all motivated by the love of Jesus.

We partnered with the Dream Center to put on a pair of Harvest Parties for two of their neighborhoods. Each location had tons of volunteers from St Matthew and the Dream Center leading games, giving out hot food and warm coats, and hosting a trunk or treat with loads of candy!

Whether you were a volunteer at the event, helped out before the event with preparing food or give-a-ways, donated items, or simply lifted the event, volunteers, and participants up in prayer, THANK YOU!!

If you helped out with the event, we’d love to hear your “God sightings” from the event! How did you see God at work? Leave a comment below!
